STLF helps Covington Library celebrate its grand reopening

February 8, 2020

The Covington Branch Library celebrated its grand reopening on February 8, 2020 after a many months-long renovation.

The St. Tammany Library Foundation was there to help with the celebration. Among the many festivities was a scavenger hunt, mask designing, a silk screen-printing workshop, talks with Covington mayor Mark Johnson and New York Times bestselling author Erica Spindler, and much more.

Among the many highlights of the day was an interactive concert from Curtis Pierre, a.k.a. “The Samba Man.” The Samba Man was a huge hit with both kids and their parents as he gave a hilarious and informative lesson on the music and culture of Brazil. Audience members were able to participate, by playing instruments, dancing, and singing, clapping, and chanting along.
