Walker Percy Serenity Circle
The life-size bronze sculpture of Walker Percy and his beloved dog Sweet Thing is the focal point of the Walker Percy Serenity Circle at the Madisonville Branch Library. Designed by by local artist Bill Binnings, the sculpture celebrates Percy, the author of many beloved and celebrated works of fiction and non-fiction, including 1961’s The Moviegoer, for which Walker was awarded the National Book Award. A long-time resident of Covington, Walker Percy remains one of St. Tammany Parish’s favorite sons, and his contributions to literature and philosophy make him one of the most important American writers of the 20th century.
